On 23rd September 2021, Nairobi, Kenya, played host to the inaugural meeting of the African Union African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) for non-state actors. The meeting was opened by APRM Chief Executive Officer Prof Eddy Maloka.
Dr Rose Ngugi, Executive Director of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), delivered the keynote speech, highlighting the importance of including non-state actors in policy development and governance. She emphasized the significance of the APRM Network of non-state actors in enhancing governance and development goals on the continent.
The APRM Network aims to provide a platform for research dissemination, training, and discourse among non-state actors. Its primary goal is to build a community of research institutes and think-tanks committed to strengthening AU members' integration and socio-economic transformation.
Key objectives of the Network include improving the quality of life of African citizens through socio-economic transformation and integration. The meeting marked a significant step towards promoting inclusion and governance in Africa.
