Emmy Kosgei: A Journey of Faith and Love ¶
Emmy Kosgei, a renowned Kalenjin gospel singer, has made a name for herself in Nigeria, where she is now a pastor's wife. Her journey, marked by love, faith, and perseverance, is a testament to the power of following one's heart.
It's been almost nine years since Emmy left Kenya for Nigeria, where she met her husband, Nigerian Pastor Apostle Anselm Madubuko. The couple's love story began when Emmy was at the height of her career as a successful Kalenjin gospel artiste. Despite their age difference, their marriage has survived the test of time, and they celebrated their eighth anniversary on August 31.
Emmy's transition to Nigeria was not without its challenges. She had to adapt to a new culture, food, and way of life. However, she has found solace in her new home and has even picked up some quintessentially Nigerian habits, such as saying 'Chineke oh.' Despite the initial struggles, Emmy has found a sense of belonging in Nigeria and has become an integral part of her husband's ministry.
As a pastor's wife, Emmy has grown from being a shy singer to now preaching and mentoring young people. Her church, which has over 5,000 congregants, has accepted her with open arms, thanks to their culture of honour and respect. Emmy has come to appreciate her new role and has found a sense of purpose in supporting her husband and mentoring others.
Emmy's music career has also flourished in Nigeria, where she has broken through the West African industry as a foreign artiste. Her first set at the '5 Days of Unending Thanksgiving' concert, organised by Nigerian gospel heavyweight Sinach, was a huge success, and she was asked to return due to public demand.
Emmy's journey is a reminder that life is full of unexpected twists and turns. She never thought she would become a pastor's wife, but she has come to appreciate the privilege and the opportunity to serve others. As she says, 'I don’t live with expectations. I don’t set bars, that by this year, by this year… I’ve learnt that our lives – it’s like we are acting a movie. God is directing everything.'
