Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has spoken publicly about the challenges she faced before giving birth to her first child, Zahari. In a recent social media post, Maribe shared her experiences of miscarriages and a high-risk pregnancy that left her feeling overly protective of her son.
Maribe revealed that she suffered multiple miscarriages before finally conceiving Zahari, and that during her pregnancy, she experienced many close calls where she could have lost her son. She attributed her strong attachment to her son to the difficulties she faced during her pregnancy.
"I had gone through miscarriages. During this pregnancy every single day was a blessing. I am very particular about my son. I am so invested in his well-being. I am his mother not for the name but for his life. So many times I would have lost him during that pregnancy. So when you see me being an overprotective mum, you know. And anyone who harms my child is the devil reincarnated," Maribe wrote on Instagram.
Interestingly, Maribe revealed that she only discovered she was pregnant while on a trip in South Africa, after a friend jokingly commented that she was experiencing mood swings typical of a pregnant woman. At the time, Maribe and her partner, comedian Eric Omondi, had decided to wait before getting pregnant.
Maribe finally revealed Omondi as the father of her son in 2019, after keeping the paternity a secret for years. The two dated briefly before parting ways under unclear circumstances.
