NAIROBI, Kenya, September 20, 2021 - Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala has made history by breaking the African record in the 100m dash, clocking 9.77 seconds at the Kip Keino Classic.

His journey to this milestone has not been easy, with various hurdles along the way. However, Omanyala remains grateful for the support he received from OdiBets, a leading betting firm in Kenya.

Speaking to the press after his sterling performance at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, Omanyala said, "My journey has been tough, and I have had to face various hurdles on my way to breaking the African record."

Earlier this year, Omanyala ran 10.11 seconds in the second leg of the Athletics Kenya Relays Series at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. However, the achievement was not sanctioned as a national record since Athletics Kenya claimed the win was wind-assisted.

Despite this setback, Omanyala remained optimistic, saying, "It's a shame my time won't be ratified as a national record, but God's time is the best. It will come gradually."

Thanks to the support of OdiBets, Omanyala was able to boost his morale and continue training. The betting firm's Odimtaani initiative provided him with financial support, giving him hope for a brighter future.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Omanyala proceeded to the semi-finals after battling out with big names in the athletics scene. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, "Participating in the Olympics was the best thing that has ever happened in my life as that is the biggest sporting event in the world."

With his recent achievement, Omanyala has set his sights on the World record, saying, "I have conquered Africa, next I'm going for the World record."

Former world champion Justin Gatlin praised Omanyala, saying, "Omanyala used the hometown support really well. I believe he will be a force to reckon with in future."
