On July 2, 2019, a service shaft at the Cory Potash mine in Saskatchewan, Canada, broke down, trapping 34 employees underground.

Fortunately, the workers had water and food supplies with them, which helped sustain them during their 24-hour ordeal.

Rescue efforts were successful, and all 34 employees were safely brought to the surface by the end of the day.

"We can confirm that all 34 employees have been safely brought to the surface at our Cory Potash site," said Will Tigley, a Nutrien spokesman.
