Published on July 4, 2019, a shocking claim emerged that there was a plan to kill Deputy President William Ruto. The allegations sparked a heated debate within the ruling Jubilee Party, with some politicians allied to Ruto pointing fingers at Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

Investigations by the DCI detectives led to the arrest of Dennis Itumbi and another blogger, Sammy. According to the DCI, Itumbi was found to be at the center of crafting a letter that 'spilled the beans' on the alleged assassination plot, which was later determined to be a fabrication.

However, in a surprising move, the Office of the Deputy President distanced itself from Itumbi, denying any ties to the blogger. Officers at the DP's office clarified that Itumbi is not an official member of their team, but rather a digital director in the Office of the President.

The move has left many wondering why the ODP would disown Itumbi, especially given his close association with the office in the past year. Itumbi had been operating from Harambee Annex after being restructured from the presidential digital team.
