On September 18, 2021, a heartwarming story unfolded in Transmara West Sub-County when Kisii Police Commander Francis Kooli visited a grade five pupil, Janet Memusi, after seeing her viral photo reading while herding cows.
Memusi, a diligent student at Ololchani primary school, had been making headlines for her determination to pursue her education despite the challenges she faced.
Impressed by her thirst for knowledge, Kooli decided to extend a helping hand. He visited Memusi at her home and later went to her school to meet with her teachers.
The teachers praised Memusi for being a disciplined and hardworking student, and Kooli committed himself to further supporting her wellbeing as she continues with her education.
The National Police Service (NPS) appreciated Kooli's act of kindness and stated that the service is also committed to supporting education in society.
"The National Police Service is an active stakeholder in community matters through our elaborate community policing programs and we compliment the Children Department to ensure best interests of children are always upheld," the NPS stated.
This act of kindness comes just days after a grade six pupil from Jola Urabi Primary School in Mombasa County touched the hearts of many after he was pictured writing his homework under a security light.
