Kenyan musician and businesswoman Akothee has always been open about her personal life, including her relationships with the fathers of her children.
On September 19, 2021, she took to social media to celebrate her eldest son's father, Baba Oyoo, on his 73rd birthday.

Akothee has always spoken highly of Baba Oyoo, terming him the only true lover she has ever had.
She recalled how he had told her that he would make her a queen and be there for her until death do them part.
Even after they parted ways, Akothee said she could still feel his love and care, and that he had her back and the backs of her children.
She expressed her gratitude for his humility and for making co-parenting look easy, saying that he fights for her even with other baby daddies.
