Football enthusiasts in Western Kenya are in for a treat as two teams from Vihiga County have secured spots in the Premier League. The county's football scene has been on the rise, with Vihiga Bullets earning an automatic promotion to the FKF Premier League after finishing as runners-up in the 2020/21 National Super League season.

On September 25, Vihiga Bullets will make their FKF PL debut against Bidco United at Bukhungu Stadium. The team's promotion is a testament to the hard work and dedication of their veteran coach, Edward Manoah, who has helped three teams earn promotion to top-flight football.

However, the team will have to find a new coach after Manoah resigned barely a week before their debut. The news of his resignation comes as a setback for the team, but it is unlikely to dampen their spirits as they prepare to take on the best teams in the league.

Meanwhile, Vihiga Queens, the newly crowned CECAFA Regional Qualifiers champions, will represent the East African region in the inaugural Women's CAF Champions League in Egypt later in the year. The team's victory in the finals against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia is a significant achievement, and they will be looking to make a strong impression in the international tournament.

With the promotion of two teams from Vihiga County, the region has become a hotbed of talent in Kenyan football. The county's football scene is on the rise, and fans are eagerly anticipating the matches of Vihiga Bullets and Vihiga Queens in the upcoming season.
