Businessman Jimi Wanjigi narrowly escaped injury when youths in Migori, Kenya, hurled stones at him on September 17, 2021, as he addressed a roadside rally from the sunroof of a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Wanjigi quickly ducked for cover as his convoy sped off, causing panic among his entourage and handlers.

His remarks, 'When I say ODM, say Fagia Wote (sweep all of them),' seemed to infuriate a section of the youth, who hurled stones directly at him, missing him by a whisker.

Several ODM leaders and officials, including Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, condemned the incident.

Wanjigi has been advocating for democratic nominations in Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic (ODM) party, describing Odinga as 'old and tired.'

He was scheduled to address a rally at Maranatha Faith Assemblies Church in Migori but was disrupted by youths armed with crude weapons, who stormed the venue and beat up party delegates.

Majority of the delegates were injured during the fracas, and police officers were forced to lob teargas to restore normalcy.
