On September 15, 2021, a 50-year-old woman from Kilungu in Makueni County collapsed and died at the Salama Police Station.
She had gone to the station to report her teenage daughter, whom she accused of 'bad behavior' and 'tormenting' her by not returning home during school holidays.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the woman became emotionally overwhelmed while begging officers to intervene and collapsed.
Police officers and a well-wisher attempted to administer first aid, but it was unsuccessful.
The woman was taken to the Kilungu Sub-County Hospital, where she died while receiving treatment.
Her body was moved to the facility's morgue.
Responding to the incident, the DCI advised students to be responsible and take the wise counsel offered by their teachers and parents to avoid such incidents in the future.
They also called upon religious leaders to take their rightful role in guiding and mentoring young adults to become responsible adults.
