On September 16, 2021, Inchcape Kenya Limited marked a significant milestone in the Kenyan automotive market by introducing the new Land Rover Defender 90.
The Defender 90 is the latest addition to the Land Rover family, following the introduction of the Land Rover Defender 110 a year ago. The new model boasts a rich history, tracing its roots back to the original Series I model of 1948.
The Defender 90 is available in four engine options, including two diesels and two petrols. The engine options range from a 2.0-litre D240 turbodiesel to a 2.0-litre P300 turbo petrol, as well as more powerful 3.0-litre straight six-cylinder options featuring efficient Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology.
The iconic 4×4 vehicle also features Land Rover's Pivi infotainment system, which boasts an intuitive interface and its own backup battery for always-on responses. The advanced over-the-air software updates ensure customers have access to the latest software at all times, regardless of their location.
Speaking at the launch event, Inchcape Kenya Managing Director Mr Hussein Ibrahim highlighted the Defender 90's exceptional features, making it an ideal choice for off-road drives.
“The Defender 90 is the most capable and connected Land Rover to date. Its short wheelbase and minimal overhangs result in excellent off-road geometry, making the car very efficient in navigating off-road terrains,” said Ibrahim.
British High Commissioner to Kenya, Ms Jane Marriott, commended Inchcape Kenya for its continued efforts in supporting the Kenyan Automotive industry. She also expressed her commitment to working with the Kenyan government to create a more conducive environment for UK companies and investors.

The Land Rover Defender 90 also offers customers the option to personalize their vehicles with four Accessory Packs: The Explorer, Adventure, Country, and Urban Packs. Each pack provides a distinct character with a specially selected range of enhancements.
