On September 16, 2021, a group of seven men, dressed in sacks and covered in ash, were spotted in a bush praying for Deputy President William Ruto.
According to eyewitnesses, the men claimed that the DP had many enemies and only God could save him.
They also prayed for President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor, stating that they were pleading with God to help the country's next leader.
The men, who referred to themselves as 'prayer warriors,' vowed to fast and abstain from food and water until their prayer timeline was over.
However, their actions have been met with skepticism, with some Kenyans accusing them of being 'religious con men' or 'attention seekers' targeting the DP for financial gain.
Others questioned their motives, suggesting that they were merely acting for the camera and would return to their normal lives once the attention subsided.
