On Sunday, a fire ravaged Kibera's densely populated slum, destroying 40 houses and leaving 100 people without a place to call home. The incident has sparked a police investigation, with authorities pointing to a love triangle as the cause.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect, a foreigner, was involved in a scuffle with her lover after discovering her with another woman. The injured woman was rushed to the hospital by her new partner, Capital News reports.
Police say the suspect, enraged by her lover's betrayal, then set the house on fire, which quickly spread through the slum. Area Chief Hilary Chumo noted that the firefighters were unable to access the area due to lack of roads.
Police are now on the hunt for the suspect, who is wanted for arson. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of addressing such issues in our communities.
