On September 15, 2021, Kenya reported 21 new COVID-19 deaths, raising the country's total fatalities to 4,949, according to the Ministry of Health.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe attributed the deaths to audits conducted at health facilities in September. The audits revealed the tragic loss of 21 lives.

As of September 15, 2021, 1,525 patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country, with 118 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The Ministry of Health also reported 446 new cases of COVID-19, detected from 6,406 tests conducted on Tuesday, with a positivity rate of 7.0 percent.

Kenya's vaccination efforts have intensified, targeting 10 million people by December. As of September 15, 2021, over 3.1 million people had been vaccinated, including 838,565 who had received the second jab.

Kenya received 210,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Poland on Monday, which will boost the ongoing vaccination drive.

Dr. Willis Akhwale, the head of the Kenya Covid-19 vaccine Taskforce, welcomed the new vaccine doses, saying, "With this availability of vaccine doses, we are now able to vaccinate many more people. And therefore, this is the time for Kenyans to really present themselves to vaccination posts to receive the jab."
