On September 15, 2021, Kenya's Ministry of Health announced 446 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country's total caseload to 244,826.
According to a press statement issued in Nairobi, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe attributed the increase to 6,406 samples tested in the last 24 hours, which brought the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests to 2,470,865. The country's positivity rate stood at 7.0 per cent.
Of the new cases, 435 were Kenyans, while 11 were foreigners. The age range of the cases spanned from a two-week-old infant to a 101-year-old individual. The breakdown by gender showed 227 females and 219 males.
Meanwhile, 459 patients recovered from the disease, with 331 recovering from home-based and isolation care, and 128 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 235,196.
Kenya reported six new deaths, pushing the death toll to 4,949. Kagwe also announced that 1,525 patients had been admitted to various hospitals across the country, while 3,341 patients were on the home-based care programme.
