September 15, 2021 - The national women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, is set to face Tunisia in their second match at the African Nations Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, with the goal of securing their second win.

After a slow start, where Kenya lost to reigning champions Cameroon, the Malkia Strikers bounced back with a 3-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday.

With three points, Kenya is joint second alongside Tunisia and DRC, a position they would like to avoid with the semifinals at stake.

Head coach Paul Bitok is keen on achieving an early ticket to the next phase, despite his spikers struggling to find their rhythm.

Bitok made four changes to the Tokyo Olympics squad, and it seems the new faces are taking time to adjust.

Speaking after the DRC win, Bitok said, 'To create a winning team takes time, and the new girls are just getting to know each other. We all believe that it is just a matter of time before they get their chemistry right, which will then bring positive results.'

Bitok praised captain Mercy Moim and Sharon Chepchumba for their impressive show, as they are almost getting back to their level best after recovering from their recent injuries.
