President Uhuru Kenyatta's journey to the top was not always clear-cut. In fact, he had a different career path in mind when he was growing up.

Speaking at the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2021 Summit in Nairobi, the President revealed that he had always wanted to join the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

However, his plans have since changed, and he now dreams of retiring as a farmer. 'To be honest, when I was growing up, I wanted to be in the defence forces but today, if you were to ask me that, I would say I want to be a farmer because that is what I am going to be when I retire,' he stated.

President Kenyatta has already taken steps to make his retirement plan a reality. He has acquired a 1000-acre ranch in Narok, which he reportedly bought last year for an undisclosed amount.

The ranch, located next to the Maasai Mara game reserve, has become a popular spot for the President, who hosted his neighbours and other guests there on New Year's Eve.

It's not the only property he owns in the area, as he is also constructing a new tourist lodge on another piece of land.
