On Saturday, Nairobi will be abuzz with athletic action as the Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour gets underway at Kasarani Stadium. The event, which promises to be a thrilling spectacle, will feature 15 track and field events, divided into three categories: national events, discretionary, and core contests.

Organizers have confirmed that the tour will start at 12:30pm and end at 6:05pm, with athletes competing in a range of events. Athletics Kenya President Jackson Tuwei expressed his excitement about the event, stating, "The game is evolving, it's becoming bigger and better."

According to Tuwei, the national category has attracted 80 athletes, while 185 contestants will be involved in the discretionary and core contests. The event is expected to boost Kenya's economy, with Tuwei noting, "Athletes coming to Kenya only means our economy will improve for the better, we will have more revenues."

Speaking via video call, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed emphasized the importance of hosting a successful championships, stating, "We hope and pray that we join the Diamond League, that's our target for the future."
