On June 9, 2021, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) ordered Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) to halt construction of its perimeter wall along a riparian area in Limuru Road, Nairobi. However, despite this order, DTB is continuing with the construction.

According to NEMA's observations, the construction site lacks essential documents, including an environmental impact assessment license and riparian pegging from the Water Resources Authority (WRA). Furthermore, the 23 workers on site were not provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).

DTB was instructed to stop construction immediately and report to NEMA's office with necessary compliance documents by June 10, 2021. However, our source indicates that the construction is ongoing, posing a threat to the ecosystem.

It is imperative that DTB is stopped from further jeopardizing the environment.
