On September 12, 2021, the Nairobi Polo Club witnessed an epic battle between TML and Samurai in the six-goal Kenya International Championships. The match went down to the wire, with TML emerging victorious 9-8.
At the end of the regular four chukkas, both teams were tied at 6-6, forcing the match to go into extra time. It was then that Kenya international Casimir Gross scored a golden goal in extra time chukka, securing the win for TML.
Earlier, Gross had scored five out of the six goals for TML, ensuring his side's victory and a spot in the final team that would face South Africa in the 10-goal Championships at the same venue the following weekend.
Callum Shaw of Samurai was a standout performer, scoring six goals and being voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Jadini Nzomo also scored two goals for Samurai.
"It was tough, but we gave a good account of ourselves to emerge runner-up in the epic tussle," Jadini said.
Blondy, the pony used by Kenya international Izzy Parsons, was voted the Best Playing Pony (BPP) of the tournament.
