On September 11, 2021, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i embarked on a two-day tour in Laikipia County to address the ongoing conflict in the area. The tour marked the beginning of a journey to end the perennial skirmishes in Laikipia.

During his visit, Matiang'i and Governor Ndiritu Muriithi broke ground for a new police division headquarters at Ol Moran township. The ground-breaking ceremony took place as residents of surrounding villages began collecting their belongings and rebuilding their lives after two months of conflict.

Residents of Ol Moran township experienced a rare night of peace without the sound of gunshots from either the police or armed bandits. Matiang'i assured the residents of their security, stating that 100 police officers would be attached to the new Ol Moran Police Station to boost security in the area.

As part of the government's plan to ensure learning resumes, Matiang'i outlined measures to guarantee the safety of teachers and learners. Each affected school would be guarded by police officers at all times, and children and teachers would be escorted to and from their homes and school.

At Kisii Ndogo village, where 18 homes were burnt down, civilians returned to their homes for the first time in two weeks. Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, who has relocated his offices from Nanyuki to Ol Moran town, worked with villagers to help residents construct their new houses.

One of the residents, Bernard Onchuro, expressed gratitude to the government for helping him restart his life. His new house would serve as a model for the rest of the families, each of which would receive a three-roomed house and food rations.
