Naivasha Maximum Prison, a place where time stands still, has been home to Peter Njoroge Muchora for over 15 years. The 84-year-old convict was convicted of rape charges on March 11, 2007.
As Muchora's health begins to decline, he has sent an emotional message to his family back home, expressing his fears that he may not have much time left. He wants to subdivide his property among his four children and wife, to avoid leaving them in disarray in case he dies before he gets a chance to do so.
Speaking to Inooro TV, Muchora revealed that he doesn't want to burden his children, who sometimes refuse to pick up his calls. He fears that they may view him as a burden, and that he might end up asking for money.
Recounting the events of the fateful day that led to his life of confinement, Muchora disclosed that he was drunk and went into the children's room instead of retiring to his bedroom to rest. His girlfriend, whom they worked with at a local butchery, walked in and saw him in the children's room, and raised an alarm, accusing him of raping one of the girls.
Muchora confessed to the charges in court, despite never having been in court before. He regretted the events of that day and condemned the heinous act of defilement of minors. He implored on men not to involve themselves in such behavior, and expressed his desire to be reunited with his family one day.
