On September 11, 2021, Betika, a Kenyan sports gaming company, announced its third edition of the GrandPa tournament, dubbed Betika Na GrandPa 1 Milli Super Cup.
The tournament, held in Kibera, Nairobi, will feature 64 teams, with 48 male and 16 female teams competing for a prize of Ksh350,000.
According to Mr. Noah Yusuf, also known as Refigah, the tournament aims to empower the youth by giving them a sense of confidence that they can channel into improving their own lives.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has pledged to support the community teams and help them reach league levels.
As part of the tournament, FKF plans to hold a three-day mentorship and training session, where celebrity footballers will mentor coaches and team goalkeepers.
Ms. Kate Arudo, Betika's PR Manager, stated that the Betika Na Community initiative brings people together, allowing them to share a common love for the game and compete on equal terms.
