Published on September 11, 2021, the Jubilee government's collapse has left a power vacuum, with the opposition struggling to capitalize on the opportunity to gain traction.

The opposition's failure to take advantage of the situation is laughable, as they continue to feed on the decayed Jubilee flotsam, asking Deputy President William Ruto to quit. In a functional democracy, the opposition should be asking President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto to pack up and go.

However, the opposition's inaction has allowed the Jubilee Party's logan, or party honchos, to accumulate in Pangani, reading ultimatums that signify nothing. The difference between them and the party derelicts is the same, with the derelicts being sunken unmarked debris that anyone can take.

The opposition's squandered opportunity has opened up pyrrhic opportunities, such as possible appointments to the Cabinet and other positions. However, whoever is handed the poisoned chalice of an anointment by Uhuru should consider their political career dead, as the mood among citizens is heavily against anointments.

The Jubilee vessel has sunk, and its uselessness for governance is evident. The party's decayed flotsam and jetsam now belong to nobody and to everybody, with anyone who stumbles into it able to claim it, unless someone else proves it was theirs.
