On September 10, 2021, a gruesome incident unfolded in Gatuanyaga, Thika East, where a man allegedly slit his wife's throat and escaped, leaving behind a four-month-old baby in a car.
The man, yet to be identified, is suspected of committing the heinous crime before hiding in the nearby Delmonte farm.
However, irate residents caught up with him, beat him up, and set his body on fire.
Thika Deputy OCPD Muthee Nyaga confirmed the incident, stating that the couple was out on a picnic when the tragedy occurred.
Police are yet to establish the motive behind the crime, but it is believed that the man lured his wife to the deserted area to commit the crime.
Residents stumbled upon the woman's body and the abandoned car, prompting them to alert the police and launch a search for the suspect.
When the man emerged from hiding, he attempted to attack some of the residents but was outnumbered.
The two bodies have been moved to the mortuary, and police have traced the man's close relative through his phone, confirming that the couple had a child together.
