On September 8, 2021, the Football Association (FA) announced that Chelsea would be fined £25,000 ($34,000) for failing to control their players in the 1-1 Premier League draw against Liverpool at Anfield last month.

The incident occurred when Chelsea defender Reece James was sent off in first-half stoppage time for handball and a penalty was awarded, which Mohamed Salah converted.

According to the FA, Chelsea admitted to failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during both the 48th minute of the first half and following the half-time whistle.

Chelsea will host Aston Villa on Saturday, while Liverpool will travel to Leeds United on Sunday.
