NSE Equity Turnover Declines 15% to KSh 328 Million

On Tuesday, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a 15% decline in equity turnover, with the total value of shares traded dropping to KSh 328 million from KSh 385 million.

Kenya Power led the pack of top gainers, with its share price rising 9.68% to KSh 1.70 from KSh 1.55. Umeme followed closely, gaining 4.76% to KSh 6.60 from KSh 6.30.

Other notable gainers included Uchumi, which appreciated 4% to KSh 0.26 from KSh 0.25, ScanGroup, which rose 3.24% to KSh 5.74 from KSh 5.56, and TPS (E.A) Serena, which increased by 3.00% to KSh 15.45 from KSh 15.00.

On the other hand, the losers were led by E.A Portland, whose share price declined 5.11% to KSh 8.54 from KSh 9.00. Bamburi, BK Group, Stanbic, and Jubilee also experienced declines, with their share prices falling by 3.02%, 2.78%, 1.92%, and 1.87% respectively.

Safaricom was the top mover, with 5 million shares valued at KSh 211 million changing hands at between KSh 41.80 and KSh 42.15, representing 64.07% of the day's traded value.

The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh 68.6 million, accounting for 20.87% of the day's traded value. KCB Group moved 1 million shares valued at KSh 50.5 million between KSh 46.20 and KSh 46.50.

The NSE All-Share Index (NASI) moved up 1.09 points to close at 178.74, representing a 1-week loss of 1.81%, a 4-week loss of 1.01%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 17.51%.
