Published on September 7, 2021, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has kept her cards close to her chest regarding her potential switch to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party ahead of the 2022 elections.
Speaking on Spice FM, Waiguru stated that it is too early to disclose her next move, saying, 'I don't think it's the right time to have that conversation. I can't say I would join UDA, I can't say I would not. This is politics, it's unlikely but a bit early. Let's see what the ground looks like.'
Waiguru emphasized that her decision will be influenced by her electorate, saying, 'I will not be ignorant to try and go against the people, I cannot vote myself in so, I'm listening very carefully to what it is that they want.'
She also noted that re-election is not solely dependent on performance, stating, 'In politics, it's not just about performance, you can be a fantastic performer and not be re-elected.'
