On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho issued a stern warning to Deputy President William Ruto's allies against insulting CS Fred Matiang'i and other officials over the DP's security detail.

The warning came just days after some of Ruto's allies, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, made derogatory remarks against Matiang'i and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Addressing the media from Kirinyaga County, Kibicho described the remarks as baseless, emphasizing that the Ministry of Interior was focused on serving Kenyans rather than engaging in politicking.

He endorsed sentiments made by Matiang'i when he appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security, stating that the ministry would continue with the rearrangement of security.

"There is a rise in personal attacks directed at some of us, I don’t understand how the politicians will benefit from such utterances," Kibicho stated.

Earlier, Matiang'i had listed properties allegedly owned by Ruto, sparking outrage from the DP's allies.

Speaking at Deputy President's Karen Residence in Nairobi County, Ruto's allies were livid at Matiang'i, who they claimed had conducted an 'exaggerated' lifestyle audit of the DP.

"Matiang'i has done the right thing by introducing the topic of land ownership... And we will now start addressing land issues now that they have brought up the topic," said Gachagua.

However, Ruto admitted to owning 70% of the property listed by Matiang'i, terming it a faulty 'lifestyle audit' and dismissing it as misleading and inconsequential.
