Kenyan well-wishers are rallying around Rosemary Alakie, the daughter of the late Tom Mboya, who has been battling breast cancer for four years. Alakie, who bears a striking resemblance to her father, has launched a medical appeal to help her finance her chemotherapy sessions.

According to the medical appeal, Alakie has been drained emotionally, physically, and financially by the disease. Financial donations will help her complete her chemotherapy sessions.

Well-wishers are requested to channel their contributions to pay bill number 8041905, and the account number is the name of the giver.

Alakie's father, Tom Mboya, was a renowned Kenyan trade unionist, educator, Pan-Africanist, author, independence activist, and statesman. He was one of Kenya's founding fathers and led the negotiations for independence at the Lancaster House Conference.

On December 12, 1964, Mboya was appointed the Economic Planning and Development Ministry when Kenya gained independence.

Just two days ago, the Dedan Kimathi Foundation announced that the family of the late freedom fighter was in mourning following the death of one of their relatives, Peris Muthoni Kimathi, who succumbed to a long illness on Sunday, August 29.

President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned Muthoni, stating her demise was a blow to Kimathi's family since she was the caregiver to her mother Mukami Muthoni, who is ailing.
