Kenya is set to host the first African-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) summit on September 7, 2021, in a bid to strengthen ties between Africa and the Caribbean.

According to the Kenyan foreign ministry, the virtual summit will bring together heads of state and government from Africa and the Caribbean, alongside representatives of regional economic blocs.

The theme of the summit is 'Unity Across Continents and Oceans: Opportunities for Deepening Integration,' and it aims to promote closer collaboration between African diaspora, people of African descent, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region.

Key topics of discussion will include debt management and development financing, economic integration, trade, the blue economy, transport connectivity, and financial innovations.

Among the expected outcomes of the summit are an integrated greater economic trade and investment pact, as well as a collective approach to fighting the pandemic and climate change.
