Covid-19 Death Toll Hits 4,757 as 1,001 People Test Positive

On September 3rd, 2021, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 1,001 new Covid-19 infections from 9,065 samples tested in Nairobi, raising the national caseload to 238,852.

The country's positivity rate stands at 11 per cent, with 988 Kenyans and 13 foreigners among the new cases. The youngest case is a four-month-old baby, while the oldest is 110 years old.

Of the new cases, 504 are males and 497 are females. The Ministry of Health reported that 1,155 patients were discharged, with 1,001 from the home-based care programme and 154 from various hospitals across the country.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 226,037, with 1,867 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide. Of these, 135 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 90 on ventilatory support, 43 on supplemental oxygen, and two under observation.

The cases are spread across various counties, with Nairobi reporting 211 cases, Laikipia 107, and Nakuru 58.
