On September 3, 2021, a gruesome murder shook Kigari village in Embu County, Kenya.

A 26-year-old butcher, Eric Mutegi, was found lying outside his rental house with multiple stab wounds. The residents discovered a knife at the scene, which is believed to have been used in the crime.

Residents described Eric as a hard-working person who was brutally murdered. They expressed shock and fear following the incident.

"We were shocked when we saw the victim who is well known in the area. The man was always busy doing his work and we don't know why he was killed," said Ms Mukami Muthungu, a resident.

Embu North police boss Aden Alio assured the public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves. He called on the residents to cooperate and provide information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits.

"We are treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves and we are confident that those behind the gruesome murder will be arrested and prosecuted," Aden Alio said.
