Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his second debut in the Premier League, and he will be wearing the iconic number seven shirt.
Edinson Cavani, who had been wearing the number seven at the start of the season, has agreed to swap to number 21, allowing Ronaldo to reclaim his old jersey.
This decision comes after Ronaldo rejoined Manchester United from Juventus last week, and it had been reported that a club would need special dispensation from the Premier League to process the switch following the start of the domestic campaign.
“Manchester United can confirm that Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the iconic no.7 shirt after returning to Old Trafford,” the club said on their website.
Ronaldo's first stint with United, which lasted from 2003 to 2009, saw him score 118 goals and win nine trophies, including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
He is set to make his second debut in the Premier League match against Newcastle on September 11.
