On Wednesday night, a tragic incident occurred in Nyeri's Kamakwa area, leaving one brother dead and another facing murder charges.

Elias Muriithi Kariuki, 33, allegedly killed his brother Joseph Maina, 39, in a dispute over a 3-seater sofa that Maina had tried to repossess from their mother's house.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the deceased was acting under the instructions of their mother, which led to the quarrel between the two brothers.

As the fight escalated, Muriithi used a machete to hack his brother and then smashed his head, leaving him lifeless in a pool of blood.

Neighbors who witnessed the incident were left stunned, and the suspect escaped to the Mathari Police Post to evade their wrath.

Police later arrested Muriithi and processed the crime scene, initiating legal procedures pending his arraignment.
