Kenyan women's football has taken a significant step forward with the signing of two key players by Tanzanian Premier League side Arusha Tigers. The duo, consisting of attacking midfielder Diana Cheptoo Koske and defensive midfielder Linda Nasimiyu, have signed a three-year contract with the club.
The players, who were part of the Kenya Women's Premier League side Nakuru Queens, have been instrumental in the club's development program and were key contributors to the team's success.
According to Arusha Tigers' Chief Executive Officer Bernard Esitoko, the signing of the duo is a testament to the growth of Kenyan women's football. He stated, "that's a good gesture when we start to export our players to the foreign markets, an indication in the growth of the Kenyan women's football."
Esitoko also expressed his belief that the duo's signing will improve their welfare and lifestyles, saying, "By the duo landing this offer proves our standards are on the upward trend, which to our belief will go a long way in improving their welfare and lifestyles."
Nakuru Queens FC assistant coach Calistus Moraa wished the two players well in their new club, stating, "This is a big achievement for us in the technical bench and playing away from home will also give them the required exposure that could see them serve more years at the national team."
The signing of the duo marks a significant milestone for Kenyan women's football, and it is expected to pave the way for more opportunities for local players in the future.
