Covid-19 Cases Rise to 237,851 in Kenya

Kenya has recorded a significant rise in Covid-19 cases, with 970 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's total caseload to 237,851.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases were identified from 7,940 samples tested, with the country's cumulative number of samples tested since March last year now standing at 2,388,858.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases in a statement issued in Nairobi, revealing that 940 of the new cases are Kenyans, while 30 are foreigners. The age range of the new cases is also diverse, with the youngest being an eight-month-old infant and the oldest being 97 years old.

Of the new cases, 612 patients have recovered from the disease, with 502 recovering from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 110 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 224,882.

Kenya's death toll has also risen to 4,746, after seven more patients succumbed to the virus.

There are currently 1,874 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 5,379 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. Additionally, 143 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 98 on ventilatory support, 39 on supplemental oxygen, and six patients under observation.
