On September 2, 2021, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) granted Pesapal authorization to act as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) to carry out Payment Gateway Services in compliance with the National Payment System (NPS) Act, 2011, NPS Regulations 2014.

This regulatory approval will enable Pesapal to offer digital e-commerce services seamlessly, accelerating innovation in digital payments.

"We are delighted to have this authorization by the CBK. We will continue to enable payments for merchants and consumers," says Mark Mwongela, Pesapal's Chief Executive.

Founded in 2009, Pesapal aims to provide a simple, safe, and secure way for individuals and businesses to make and accept payments in Kenya.

The company's objective is to democratize payments by providing affordable, innovative, and customized payment solutions to businesses and consumers alike.

Pesapal operates across Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, and seeks to become Africa's safest and most convenient way to pay and get paid, as well as a leading Payment Service Provider offering digital financial services for individuals and businesses.
