Kenya has received a significant boost in its COVID-19 vaccination drive with the arrival of 358,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Canada on September 2, 2021.

Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache received the package at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, marking the latest consignment to bolster the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.

According to the PS, the country has received over 3.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines as of September 2, 2021, with an additional 4.6 million doses expected in the coming weeks.

‘All these will be key in our commitment to vaccinate at least 10 million Kenyans by end of December,’ said the PS.

The expected assortment of vaccines includes doses of Johnson & Johnson, which the Kenyan government paid the African Union to secure, and are set to arrive in the country from September 3, 2021.

Other vaccines include Moderna from the US, Sinopharm from China, and Pfizer from the US.
