On September 1, 2021, a tragic road accident occurred in Qatar, claiming the lives of four Kenyan security guards. The incident happened in the evening while the guards were heading to work.
The deceased guards were part of a team that included two Nepalese nationals and two Ugandans. They were traveling in a bus belonging to the European Guard Company, which was handling the migrant workers.
According to reports, a car rammed into the bus, resulting in the grisly accident. A clip of the scene showed a mangled-up bus with extensive damage on the side, while the car in question was completely destroyed.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and attempted to save the lives of the victims. Unfortunately, two of the Kenyan guards were killed on the spot, while two others were transported to the hospital, with one in critical care.
The Kenyan Embassy in Qatar has confirmed the incident and has made contact with the victim's employer. The embassy has also confirmed that the bodies of the deceased guards will be transported back to Kenya for burial.
The victims were employees of the European Guardian & Security Services Co. (EGSSCO), one of the largest security companies in the Gulf state. Their identities have not been officially revealed, but their images have been shared across social media.
