Published on September 2, 2021, a local radio station interviewed Lucy Wanjiru, the mother of Fredrick Muriithi, 30, and Victor Mwangi, 25, who were brutally murdered in Kitengela.
Wanjiru, who raised her sons alone for over 25 years, described them as reliable and responsible individuals. She last saw them in 2018 when she left for the UK.
'My boys died a very painful death because they had multiple stab wounds… I need prayers, guidance and counselling,' Wanjiru tearfully said, adding that she has been having sleepless nights and is demotivated.
She expressed her desire for justice and a speedy conclusion to the case, saying she wouldn't want any parent to experience what she has gone through. Wanjiru also revealed that she and her sons' father parted ways a long time ago and that he was absent for 22 years.
Wanjiru's emotional plea for justice and her struggle to cope with the loss of her sons serve as a testament to the devastating impact of violence on families and communities.
