Kenya on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021, confirmed 1,018 new Covid-19 cases from samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's coronavirus caseload to 236,881.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases in a press statement, attributing them to 9,347 samples tested, which raised the total to 2,380,918. The country's positivity rate stood at 10.9 per cent.
Of the new cases, 995 were Kenyans, while 23 were foreigners, with 522 females and 496 males affected. The youngest case was an 11-month-old infant, while the oldest was 103 years old.
According to Kagwe, 633 patients had recovered from the disease, with 493 recovering from the home-based isolation and care programme and 140 from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stood at 224,270.
Unfortunately, 13 patients succumbed to the disease, taking the national death toll to 4,739.
There were 1,866 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,988 were under the home-based isolation and care programme. Additionally, 160 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 99 on ventilatory support and 50 on supplemental oxygen, and 11 under observation.
