As of September 1, 2021, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) domestic field offices and asylum offices have reopened with additional precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In line with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidelines, face coverings in DHS-controlled spaces supersede state, local, tribal, or territorial rules and regulations.
- USCIS employees, on-site contractors, and visitors are required to wear masks inside all DHS and USCIS workspaces and federal buildings, regardless of vaccination status or local COVID-19 transmission levels.
- Visitors must follow local USCIS guidance on physical distancing and workplace protection, consistent with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and agency guidelines.
- Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms, recent close contact with someone who has COVID-19, recent travel, or self-isolation instructions may not enter a USCIS facility.
- For appointment rescheduling, call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 or follow instructions in your interview notice for asylum offices.
- Arrive no more than 15 minutes before your appointment (30 minutes for naturalization ceremonies), and be prepared to answer health screening questions.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided at entry points, and physical barriers and markings will guide social distancing.
- Bring your own black or blue ink pens for your visit.
Appointment notices will include more instructions for visiting USCIS facilities. For more information, see our USCIS Visitor Policy page.
