On September 1, 2021, a new police station was officially opened in Kianjokoma, Embu County, a move aimed at healing the wounds of a community still reeling from the alleged police killings of two brothers, Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura.

The government has deployed ten police officers and an officer commanding station (OCS) to the new station, in a bid to restore trust and ensure peaceful coexistence between the police and residents.

Residents had demanded the establishment of a new station after officers from the nearby Manyatta Police Station were linked to the murders.

Embu North Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Tumo called on residents to support the new officers and work closely with them to ensure peace and order in the area.

“As a way of making sure that the residents have confidence in the police force and there is reconciliation, the government has opened a new police station in this area. We want peace,” Tumo said.

The new station is fully operational, with an Occurrence Book in place, and residents can now seek services there. The government has also promised to provide a vehicle to the station for delivery of quality services.

Residents are being asked to put the past behind them and move forward, as the government has taken action against officers said to be responsible for the deaths of the two college students.
