Covid-19 Positivity Rate at 12.6% as 235,863 Kenyans Test Positive

On August 31st, 2021, the Ministry of Health confirmed 565 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the national tally to 235,863.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the cases were detected from 4,494 samples tested within the same period, bringing the total to 2,371,571. The country's positivity rate is at 12.6 per cent.

Of the new cases, 554 are Kenyans, while 11 are foreigners. The age range of those infected spans from an 11-month-old infant to a 95-year-old.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also confirmed that 1,280 patients have recovered from the disease, with 1,062 recovering at home and 218 in various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 223,637.

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 death toll rose to 4,726 after six more patients succumbed to the disease.
