Nairobi Businessman Charged with Stealing Sh36 Million in Property

On August 31, 2021, a Nairobi businessman was charged with stealing property worth Sh36 million.

Mohamed Shabbir Kassim, the chairman of PrideInn Hotels, appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku.

According to the prosecution, Kassim allegedly destroyed the building where the hotel stands, which belongs to Imran Abdulsalaam, on May 1 and July 1 last year.

He was also accused of stealing CCTVs, door locks, seven room equipment and furniture and fitting valued at Sh36, 668, 880 on the same dates.

Kassim was released on a cash bail of Sh1 million.

The charges come just days after Kassim's son, Mohamed Hasnain Shabbir Noorani, was charged with similar offences.
