On the eve of the Africa Nations Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, national women's volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, has undergone a significant change with the inclusion of two new players.
Kenya Prisons duo Meldine Sande and Ann Lowen, who impressed at the national volleyball play-offs in Mombasa, have been drafted into the team.
According to national coach Paul Bitok, the duo caught the eyes of the technical bench during the three-day play-offs at Makande Indoor Gymnasium in Mombasa.
Bitok also revealed that the Prisons pair ensured the side retained the title they've been winning since 2018, defeating KCB in the final.
Additionally, experienced players Violet Makuto and Carolyne Sirengo have been dropped from the earlier squad.
The women's team will train at Nyayo Stadium for the championships, which run from September 10-20 in Kigali.
At the same time, the men's side also starts its residential camp under head coach Gideon Tarus of GSU.
