On August 30, 2021, a devastating incident occurred in Gachie, Kiambu County, when a five-storey building under construction suddenly collapsed.
The building caved in at around 2 pm when workers were putting up a slab for the sixth floor, trapping several people beneath the rubble.
Rescue efforts were underway by 7:15 pm, with nine people rescued and taken to Kihara Level IV Hospital with injuries but in stable condition.
Unfortunately, one person lost their life in the tragic incident.
