On August 31, 2021, the White House confirmed that rockets were fired at the Kabul Airport, but a US drone successfully prevented them from reaching their target.
Despite the warning from the US that the Kabul airport was facing more severe attacks, the identity of those who fired the rockets remains unknown.
The Islamic State's Khorasan province (IS-K) claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred after the US warned of potential rocket attacks ahead of the final evacuation day.
However, authorities reported that five rockets were intercepted, averting a potential disaster.
As the deadline for evacuation neared, the White House confirmed that 1,200 people had been evacuated from Afghanistan.
